Denis has over 40 years’ experience as a lawyer specialising in property and property development law and has an intimate working knowledge of the property industry. Denis is the National Head of our award-winning Property Division and is responsible for managing our property divisions in Sydney, Melbourne, Parramatta, and Brisbane. In addition, he acts in an advisory role to clients and team members in the following areas:

  • Property development – all stages of acquisition, structuring property acquisitions and disposals, property development documentation, master off-the-plan contracts and sales
  • Leases – all types of leases acting for landlords and tenants for commercial, office and industrial premises including drafting, reviewing, negotiating lease documentation, mediations, and dispute resolution
  • Commercial and Corporate – business and commercial agreements, buy-sell agreements, shareholders’ agreements, franchise agreements, supply agreements, risk management advice and corporate governance
  • Private clients – wills, estates, powers of attorney and enduring guardianships

Denis has previously held and currently holds numerous directorships in closely held private companies and trustee companies. He is currently the Chair of the Madison Marcus Client Care Committee and the Innovation and Technology Committee. He is currently admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW and High Court of Australia, and a member of the NSW Law Society and the American Bar Association.

Denis holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of NSW, a Master of Business Law from Sydney University, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has completed courses with the Australian Commercial Dispute Centre in Mediation and Dispute Resolution and the Governance Institute of Australia in Risk Management and Compliance. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management. Denis has had the honour of being named the Property Law Expert in Australia by Global Law Experts in 2017.
