Help to Buy Scheme
What is the Help to Buy Scheme in Australia
The Help to Buy Scheme was established in November 2024. It will open for applications in late 2025. Â
The Budget states the aim is to assist an estimated 40,000 first home buyers in the next four (4) years, capped at 10,000 places a year, by allocating an additional A$800m funding to the current Scheme equity investment of A$5.5 Billion.
The Scheme is based on shared equity and the scheme provides a financial contribution for 30% of an eligible buyer’s loan for an established property and up to 40% for a new build.
First home buyer income thresholds 2025
To qualify First Home Buyers eligible first home buyers :
- Income threshold A$100,000 for single applicants and A$160,000 for joint applicants.
- Price Cap: Sydney A$1.3 million, Regional areas A$800,000, Melbourne A$950,000, Brisbane A$1 million and other caps for Adelaide, Hobart & Perth.
